Colour management in digital surface decoration – challenges and solution approaches
Industrial grade inkjet systems for surface decoration are largely being adopted for ceramics tile production and start to enter the woodworking industry and other surface creating processes. One major business reason for the adoption of digital printing is due to expected cost savings by removing the need for physical printing plates, stencils or gravure cylinders. But how are colour consistent re-runs possible without a reference printing plate? This lecture outlines important workflow differences between analogue and digital and explains solution approaches to ensure colour consistent end products that are produced in shorter run-length but more often.
